Whale watching

Between June and November, thousands of humpback whales migrate along the coast of Brazil to give birth to their offspring. In collaboration with the International Humpback Whale Institute in Praia do Forte, we are offering whale watching tours from July 20th to the end of October. According to the experiences of the last years and the increasing whale population the probability is 95% to see humpback whales. By participating, you make an active contribution to the protection of humpback whales. On board is also a biologist. From her you will get more interesting information about the whales.

What's waiting for you:
09:00 clock you will be picked up at the meeting point and we put with the dinghy to the sailing yacht. On board we offer you a drug (Dramin) against seasickness and you will receive a brief safety briefing. Then we sail past the lighthouse of Barra on the Atlantic Ocean. The observation area will be reached after about two hours. There we stay for about three hours. Water, fruit and biscuits are offered in between. After hopefully many pictures taken and an exciting whale watching we sail back to the marina. Please plan between 6 and 8 hours for the tour. Please inform your doctor before the tour if Dramin can take part and join the tour. Also, if necessary, you should think of weatherproof clothing, camera, binoculars and a snack.
If the tour is canceled due to bad weather at short notice, you will be suggested another date or you will get your money back.
For bookings please contact us at the latest by 20:00 the day before, in exceptional cases also on the morning before the tour. There are a maximum of 10 participants possible.

The whale watching tour costs R $ 250.00 per participant.

Don't worry about getting seasick!

Should you notice any symptoms, approach the skipper immediately. He will keep you actively engaged and advise you on what to do. For example, stay on deck, focus on the horizon, steer the yacht, don't sail on an empty stomach, don't smoke.
A preventative measure could be eating ginger or drinking ginger tea, e.g. when rough passages are ahead.
A variety of medication is available atpharmacies. As part of our service, we also offer some medication on board.

Safety

Dear guests, please keep in mind that the skipper is responsible for the crew and the vessel, which means that he has absolute authority over decisions concerning the safety of the crew and vessel. The skipper's orders must always be followed, especially when safety is concerned. Every crew member must contribute to his own safety and to the
safety of other crew members. On Day 1, the skipper will brief you with regard to safety and on-board conduct. It goes without saying that there are sufficient life jackets and safety belts on board for everyone. There is also a lifeboat that can accommodate the entire crew.
